Flo Rida

Flo Rida

Flo Rida(pronounced flow-ri-duh, the African-American Vernacular English pronunciation of "flow rider") (born December 16, 1981 as Tramar Dillard in Opa-Locka, Florida) is an African American rapper. He chose the name "Flo Rida" because he is from Florida and in reference to his rap styles. He made his mainstream debut in the song "Bitch I'm From Dade County" on DJ Khaled's album We the Best. He started appearing in mixtapes in 2006, and began affiliating himself with other known Florida rappers such as Rick Ross and Trick Daddy. Way before We the Best, Flo Rida has released a street single entitled "Birthday", featuring Rick Ross. He then released a club based single entitled "Low" featuring T-Pain which hit #1 as the most downloaded song on iTunes in November 2007, as well as reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Rapper Flo Rida is the Carol City native being dubbed the new 'It' man of Hip-Hop, and it's easy to see why. With no prior studio record and relatively moderate promotion of his profile, the rapper gained respect through his debut single 'Low' feat. T-Pain. On Billboard Hot 100 chart, the song went from #91 in the first week to #64 before finally taking a big leap to #4. In its fourth week, the single held strong to the same position despite new competitors that kept turning up. Radio outlets gave heavy spins of the song and its digital download on iTunes rocketed to over 120,000 hits. Ringtone request meanwhile, was also constantly pouring in, nailing the song a third position on Billboard Hot RingMaster chart. With such attainment early in his career, there is no doubt that his name may be put in line with the kings of Hip-Hop someday.

Flo-Rida

By 2001, he followed the footsteps of his brother-in-law by becoming the hype man for 2 Live Crew's Fresh Kid Ice. Before leaving for a task in Hawaii, he recorded a solo demo with a consent from his fellow Groundhoggz members. Upon returning home to Florida, he received a call from Donald DeGrate, Jr. aka DeVante Swing who was by then a former Jodeci member, and asked to meet him in California. Although he was taken under the care of A&R, he still had to hunt for labels and endure rejections from huge recording houses such as Capitol and Deathrow. Future seemed bleak at this point. Flo Rida strayed in motels and sometimes on the street, only to pursue his dream. Still, he recorded several mixtapes that eventually helped him building a bridge with 'people with influence'.

Flo-Rida

Unexpectedly, the opportunity came not far from home. Three years after living in California, he was back to Florida to have a meeting with E-Class, founder of indie label Poe Boy who happened to grab a hold of his demo. Within months he was signed to Poe Boy/Atlantic and started recording his first album. He was introduced to T-Pain, JR Rotem, Rick Ross, DJ Khaled and Trey Songz, among those who would later contribute in the album. 'Mail on Sunday' is slated for a February 2008 release. "Anyone that likes music is going to love my music. Because I like to come from left field, but make sure I still make a lot of sense," Flo Rida said.

Jai Fears

Jai Fears

Jai Fears was born and raised in the city of Detroit where entertainment has been a part of her life since day one.

Before she was able to walk, her parents saw star written all over her face, and began to place her in several commercials (WNBA) and print ads (Nike). At the age of 14, Alecia moved to Burbank, CA for four years, and sang, danced, and acted her way to a very impressive track record. Now 20, and back in her hometown of Detroit, she hasnt slowed down a bit, and her humbling, yet feisty persona continues to leave indelible impressions on everyone she meets. Jai is definitely no stranger to the spotlight. Her impressive resume consists of diverse span of singing, acting, dancing, choreographing, and modeling. She has toured as a dancer with N Sync, Aaron Carter, Aretha Franklin, Charlie Wilson, TLC, Ray J, Johnnie Gill, and Vikki Winans. She was also witnessed by millions at the 2006 Super Bowl XL as a dancer for Stevie Wonder, John Legend and India Arie. She has landed speaking roles in major motion pictures such as The Wood (Taye Diggs), The Rundown (The Rock), MVP (Wood Harris), and a leading role in "Crossover" as she portrays the subtle but explosive role of "Eboni", co-staring Eva Pigford and Wayne Brady.

Jai Fears

When asked about her first love of music, Jai, will describe her sound as a fusion of pop, rock, with a pinch of hip-hop. Her high energy hit, Break Stuff, with which she has writing credits, is a refreshing blend of those musical genres. Her melodic soprano voice enters a perfect marriage with an edgy, animated rock squelch that sets every track she touches on fire. With exceptional dancing ability, Jais stage show has developed into something special that would make Janet Jackson do a double take.
